Dr Lorna Shelfer, Clinical Psychologist
I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist, qualifying from the University of East Anglia in 2011. I have worked in psychological services in the NHS since 2004 and currently work in the NHS as a Senior Clinical Psychologist.

Having supported adults with a wide range of physical and mental health challenges over the years I have experience with a wide range of different problems. These include anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, OCD, depression, PTSD, bipolar affective disorder, psychosis, memory problems, stress, grief, behaviour change, adjustment to changed life circumstances and more. These experiences have led me to develop a range of therapeutic skills that have helped my clients to overcome their challenges and move forward with their lives. I have particular expertise in working with people experiencing difficulties associated with loss and adjustment, working with people experiencing neurological difficulties and supporting people to overcome the effects of past traumatic experiences.

I can offer therapy informed and in line with a number of different therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT).

Reaching out and embarking on a journey through psychological therapy can be daunting. Alongside my role as a Clinical Psychologist I am a human being with my own lived experience of psychological challenge that can result from the trials and tribulations of life. As such I am often described as being a warm, down to earth and approachable clinician, who is quickly able to help my clients feel at ease in my presence.
